On April 1st 2021 the Mechanical Manufacturing unit of Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG will become an independent company within the Uhlmann Group: Axito GmbH, headquartered in Laupheim, Germany. This will bring little change for the employees in Mechanical Manufacturing. In fact, independence offers positive opportunities for growth and development.

Mechanical Manufacturing becomes an independent company within the Uhlmann Group, under the name of Axito GmbH

The pharmaceutical market is growing continuously. Against this backdrop and the related business strategy, Uhlmann is expecting to see a corresponding growth in revenue over the coming years. "We anticipate a future rise in the sale of pharmaceutical packaging machines, along with an increased demand for machine parts and components. We expect similar developments in other markets in which we're active: the health, consumer goods, food and agricultural sectors", comments Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Niemeyer, CEO of Uhlmann. "We already manufacture components for these segments in the various Uhlmann Group companies. In future, all the relevant competencies will be pooled in one individual company, which will focus on manufacturing parts, components and format parts at the best cost and quality levels" continues Niemeyer.

From April 1st 2021, Axito in Laupheim, together with the factory opened in Wroclaw, Poland, in 2019, will form a manufacturing network for parts and components, in which Laupheim will take a leading role.

Positive development opportunities for employees
Increased independence will offer positive development opportunities for the 190 or so employees in Mechanical Manufacturing, who will be switching from Uhlmann Pac-Systeme to Axito on April 1st 2021. Since the company is able to produce parts of almost any complexity in flexible batch sizes, Axito is also in the position to be able to manufacture products for companies outside the Uhlmann Group.

Large investment in the Laupheim site of Axito
Furthermore, Uhlmann has made it clear that Axito will continue to be a core activity of the Uhlmann Group in the long-term. "Axito will continue to be an important part of our group of companies in future, and we will continue to further invest in the company in the coming years, including in the home location. For example, we have purchased the site at Max-Eyth-Straße in Laupheim, home to Mechanical Manufacturing, complete with all the production halls. After more than 20 years of an excellent rental agreement with Erwin Halder KG, it will pass into our ownership on Sept 1, 2021, which is a clear commitment to the Laupheim production site", emphasizes Tobias Uhlmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Uhlmann Group Holding.
