Uhlmann donates for the region
Inspite of the current major challenges, there is also some good news: Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG is donating a total of EUR 15,000 for the regional food banks and the initiative “Help the helpers”.

“The current situation is a great challenge to us all. Uhlmann wants to play its part to help cushion the impact in the region. We have particularly set our sights on the feeding of people with barely enough income to live on and also want to support helpers in their key jobs”, explains Michael Mrachacz, CSO at Uhlmann Pac-Systeme.

Practically all shops have to stay closed at present because of coronavirus, including the food banks in the region. However, many people are dependent on this option of buying food cheaply, which is why the group “Aktion 100 000” in Ulm has initiated a fundraising campaign. The donated funds are used to buy shopping vouchers for local grocery stores. The food banks distribute these vouchers to the needy. Uhlmann is giving EUR 10,000 to this campaign.

“Help the helpers” – the Ulm catering business Gastromenü, which also operates the company restaurant at Uhlmann, has set itself this task. Gastromenü has started its campaign to provide helpers with free food during the crisis. An online platform listing contacts offering or in search of support has also been created. Uhlmann is contributing a EUR 5,000 donation to this initiative.

“In such an exceptional situation, everyone should make a contribution to help cope with the challenges. We are in the fortunate situation of being able to continue operation and wish to support those who are more severely affected by the restrictions”, says Michael Mrachacz. His colleague, CTO Tim Slomp, adds: “We are happy to help when we can. Another support initiative for the region is already planned.”
