Behind its architecturally demanding façade, the new Uhlmann building provides 13,000 square meters of space for incoming goods, warehouse, preassembly, and assembly. Uhlmann has invested over EUR 20 million in the new hall, which should further promote the ongoing growth of the company.
A genuine trade show atmosphere prevailed at the Pharmazing Days, which Uhlmann hosts every three years. The combination of a series of presentations and exhibition in April attracted over international 1,500 visitors to Laupheim in southern Germany.

Twofold Reason to Celebrate: Inauguration of the New Hall and Pharmazing Days 2016

A construction period of 15 months and an investment of over EUR 20 million: these key figures pertain to the new building of Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG, a manufacturer of packaging systems for pharmaceutical products. The anticipation was ended on Monday, April 18, 2016, when Uhlmann celebrated the inauguration of the new hall for assembly and logistics together with invited guests from industry and politics. The opening celebration took place the day before the “Pharmazing Days”, the summit of the pharmaceutical sector, which Uhlmann holds every three years.

“The new hall is the largest construction project in the history of the Uhlmann company. It underlines two things: firstly, the continuing growth of Uhlmann; secondly, the clear commitment to our base in Laupheim, and the fact that quality ‘Made in Germany’ is a key success factor for us”, stated Tobias Uhlmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The building is not only characterized by its dimensions, 135 meters long and 52 meters wide, but is also noteworthy in architectural terms. The standard is high for an industrial building, reflected in visible features such as the façade design or the 1,000 square meter large roof garden. Overall, the hall provides approximately 13,000 square meters of space for incoming goods, warehouse, preassembly, and assembly. The proximity of these areas to each other optimizes the organizational flows and shortens distances for the employees. In addition to the owner family and the Uhlmann Managing Directors Norbert Gruber, Siegfried Drost, and Peter Wagner, some 90 guests attended the inauguration ceremony.

Over 1,500 international visitors
Uhlmann used the new hall on April 19–21 for its Pharmazing Days. Uhlmann hosts this summit of the pharmaceutical sector to give its customers the opportunity to experience the Uhlmann portfolio in action, establish contacts, and learn about current trends in the industry through presentations held by acknowledged experts. “The Pharmazing Days were a complete success in our eyes. We had the pleasure of welcoming over 1,500 international guests in Laupheim”, happily reports Managing Director Siegfried Drost.

Alongside 35 co-exhibitors, the company presented its vision of 360° PHARMA PACKAGING over an area covering 5,500 square meters. Exhibited were the compact Blister lines BEC 300 and BEC 500, the Bottle line IBC 120, and the Blister machine BLU 400 for the packaging of liquid dose products, each fitted with various serialization and end-of-line packaging solutions. The fifth exhibition line focused solely on serialization and end-of-line packaging. Furthermore, respectively appropriate Uhlmann services were presented at each of the machines. Among these, for example, was ServicePlus. This allows customers to combine four modules – telephone hotline, remote service, on-site service, and spare parts availability – to form a customized service package suited to their Uhlmann line.

Keen interest in global serialization and drug safety
The exhibition was supplemented by an extensive presentation program. Particularly Track & Trace and serialization were key issues at the machines and in the presentations. There was also keen interest in future trends in pharmaceutical packaging, in which Uhlmann is intensively involved. Siegfried Drost comments: “The large number of participants and the lively discussions again made it clear to us that the pharmaceutical manufacturers not only wish to benefit from our technical solutions, but also from our know-how. This is a satisfying experience for us.” Positive feedback was also received from attending customers and other interested parties. Many view the Pharmazing Days as a specialized pharmaceutical packaging trade show, which provides a concentration of exhibitors and information unrivaled by any other event.
