Uhlmann Attains New Record Employment and Sales Figures

Digitalization is a key issue in the pharmaceutical sector. As a result, visitors to interpack showed a keen interest in the pilot projects presented by Uhlmann. These involved the application of virtual reality, augmented reality, and other forms of future-oriented technology.
After signing the contract at the end of 2016, Cremer became a member of the Uhlmann Group. Positive Business Development at Uhlmann
Uhlmann Attains New Record Employment and Sales Figures

A first with over 2,000 employees and sales amounting to EUR 374 million – the Uhlmann Group concluded its business year 2016/2017 with these record figures. The positive development of business worldwide as well as the acquisition of Cremer Speciaalmachines B.V. played a decisive role here. Uhlmann sees its employees as the key factor contributing to its success. “The experience and motivation of long-standing employees, a high trainee quota, and impetus from outside through new recruitments – these were the main elements influencing the positive development of our company group”, states Tobias Uhlmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Uhlmann.

Incoming orders for pharmaceutical packaging solutions received in the business year 2016/2017 by Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG, Laupheim, were significantly above the projected figures. In the case of software products, such as Track & Trace systems, the incoming order was even twice as high as planned. Furthermore, Uhlmann anticipates a growing demand in the field of digitalization – an issue that is becoming increasingly important in pharmaceutical packaging. This trend was verified by the keen interest shown in future-oriented pilot applications demonstrated at the trade fair interpack in May 2017.

Looking at the regional figures, Europe, and most notably Germany, rank first. The USA and China also recorded pleasing growth. Uhlmann USA demonstrated its proficiency in upgrading used machines for the global market: the business unit Rebuild Packaging Systems modernized numerous machines and lines in the past year. Uhlmann China stands out with its systematic project management and intensive support after a machine purchase, features valued by local pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as global players. Uhlmann India also closed its first full business year above target. As a whole, the Asian region offers good business prospects for Uhlmann. “We have prepared ourselves for the increasing demand. Our new assembly and logistics hall in Laupheim, which went into operation in 2016, provides sufficient space for further growth”, explains Uhlmann Managing Director Siegfried Drost.

Uhlmann Group expanded
The Uhlmann Group includes other companies in addition to Uhlmann: KOCH, Cremer, Wonder, and visiotec. KOCH Pac-Systeme GmbH, based in Pfalzgrafenweiler, particularly contributed to the record sales of the Uhlmann Group. New to the Uhlmann family since December 2016 is Cremer Speciaalmachines B.V. The addition of the Dutch engineering specialist in counting systems enables Uhlmann to expand its strategic portfolio, thus further strengthening its market position in the packaging of tablets and capsules in bottles. “Including this acquisition, the Uhlmann Group increased its sales in the last business year by 28 percent to EUR 374 million. We are very pleased with this result”, states Norbert Gruber, Chief Executive Officer of the Uhlmann Executive Board.
