The benefits of the Overwrapper EW 60 at a glance
The Overwrapper EW 60 stands for excellent product safety. A Track & Trace solution can be integrated into the machine to enable tracking of the sealed bundles. One option, for instance, is the embossing and printing on the sides where the film is sealed.
Handling cartons up to 250 mm in width, the Overwrapper EW 60 attains a maximum infeed of 500 cartons per minute and a maximum output of 60 bundles per minute.
Designed for downstream connection to an Uhlmann cartoner, the Overwrapper EW 60 can be seamlessly integrated into the complete line. In addition to the Overwrapper EW 60, “Uhlmann powered by pester pac automation” stands for three other end-of-line packaging machines: a stretch-banding machine, a case packer, and a combined unit comprising a case packer and a palletizing module. Their pharmaceutical safety, GMP-compliant machine design, and reliability ensure full integration into an Uhlmann line.
Convincing quality and safety
A variety of safety and warning features contribute to the reliability of the Overwrapper EW 60. For instance, material monitoring triggers different warnings before production comes to a halt.
The jam control and an integrated overload monitoring function additionally increase the reliability, and ensure uninterrupted production.
Advantages of the EW 60 at a glance
The full wrapping of cartons in heat-sealable film is particularly effective against tampering. Every form of subsequent interference is immediately obvious.
The servomotor regulates film feeding for added precision and quality.
Fast and easy format and reel changeovers improve the overall output of the EW 60.Safety and quality thanks to film tightening function and tear control
Frequency and servo-driven conveyors offer maximum flexibility in pharmaceutical packaging. Multi-lane bundles can also be handled.
Extensive safety and warning devices, e.g., jam and overload monitoring, stand for uninterrupted production.
As the overwrapper is designed for downstream connection to an Uhlmann cartoner, it is part of a GMP-compliant, end-to-end production process.
The easy-to-clean cantilever design gives the user a clear overview and good accessibility.
The SmartControl operating system ensures intuitive and comprehensible operation of the EW 60.
EW 60 in detail
The Overwrapper EW 60 stands for particularly tamper-evident tertiary packaging: the fully automatic overwrapping of single or multiple bundles in heat-sealable film.
Fully sealed and tamper evident
Fully film-wrapped pharmaceutical products are protected against tampering because any attempt to open the film is clearly evident. Furthermore, printing and inspection systems can be integrated into the EW 60 – a Track & Trace function enables embossing and printing on either side where the film is sealed.
Exact film feed
Feeding of the film is fully automatic and accurately controlled by a servomotor. This precision reduces material consumption to a minimum and has a positive effect on the machine OEE.
Flexible packaging
Various stacking systems, as well as frequency and servo-driven conveyor belts, permit the processing of different bundle forms. The machine is also suitable for multi-layer bundles.
Fast format and film changeovers
The small number of plug-in format parts means that format and film changeovers are completed quickly. The easy exchange – without the need for tools – has a positive influence on the overall efficiency of the Overwrapper EW 60.
Integrated film monitoring
A number of safety and warning devices enhance the reliability of the EW 60. For example, the combination of material monitoring and a film-end warning function ensures uninterrupted production. The user is given three different warnings before the expendable materials run out: an acoustic signal, notification on the monitor, and a warning light.
High level of user-friendliness
The easy-to-clean and space-saving cantilever design of the Overwrapper EW 60 gives the user a clear overview and good accessibility. The low-maintenance machine architecture and straightforward cleaning make the machine particularly user-friendly.
Future-oriented operation system
The SmartControl operating system of the EW 60 is intuitive with its easily comprehended user interface. Visual assistance guides the operator through all production steps. The uncomplicated structure means all employees can operate the machine after a short learning phase.
