In December 2022, Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG achieved 65 points in the EcoVadis rating, missing out on the gold medal by just two points. Cremer, another Uhlmann Group company, also received an EcoVadis silver medal. "This excellent performance reflects the commitment we displayed when working on the issue of sustainability last year. Together with the various departments, we were able to implement a wide range of measures to make Uhlmann even more sustainable. We are proud to be among the top 25 percent of all participating companies," said Carolyn Leung, Corporate Sustainability Manager at the Uhlmann Group.

EcoVadis is an independent platform focusing on sustainability/corporate social responsibility (CSR) that evaluates companies in the four topic areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Progress through sustainability strategy
One important step for Uhlmann in 2022 was the development, together with all of its departments, of a sustainability strategy containing clear targets and responsibilities. Other milestones in the past year included the introduction of an environmental management system, improvements in sustainable procurement, and joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). SBTi subjects Uhlmann to an external assessment and a global comparison with regard to the avoidance of CO2 emissions.

Tackling sustainability goals even more globally
2023, the company is continuing on the course it has set itself. "The ambitions and commitment of our colleagues to not only achieve the targets, but to exceed them, are great. Internally, we have already taken significant steps. Now we will work hard to make our product solutions even more sustainable, for example by identifying and reducing the CO2 footprint of machines," explains Carolyn Leung.

In addition, the Uhlmann Group recently established sustainability management as a group-wide function, with the result that it will be possible to promote this important issue on a worldwide basis going forward.
