Uhlmann presents new blister machine for liquid dose products
Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG will present a forward-looking new development at this year's ACHEMA in Frankfurt: "We will unveil the new blister machine for the packaging of liquid dose products on the first day of the trade Show", says Marketing Manager Rainer Schopp, "and we are confident that the line will attract attention at the show."

Under the motto "Pushing the Limits", the exhibits not only include the new machine for the packaging of liquid dose products, but also the new Blister line BEC 300 for solid dose products. Ideally suited for small and medium-sized batches with its fast format changeovers, the first generation of the compact line has been an Uhlmann success for some years. Technical improvements and features based on specific customer feedback have now been integrated into the new BEC 300.

Refinement of the bestseller BEC 300
The new BEC 300 firstly makes an impression with top performance. It processes a maximum of 300 blisters and 150 cartons per Minute - not only in the case of standard formats, but also when handling large, rigid aluminum blisters or exotic shaped solid dose products.
Secondly, Uhlmann has gone one better in terms of user-friendliness. The predecessor model already boasted just a small number of light-weight format parts as well as easy-to-clean surfaces. In the context of optimization, particular attention was paid, for example, to the fill section: hoses and cables are no longer visible. The area is "tidier" as a result, and cleaning involves even less effort. The SmartControl operating system enables straightforward guidance through format changeovers and the production processes. As a result, operators from other machines can be allocated to the BEC 300 after just a short familiarization period.
Thirdly, the new BEC 300 is characterized by its wide application versatility. For example, the packaging of very long tablets, such as capsules and oblongs, in the running direction of the web is also now possible. The blister pockets in this case can be up to 40 millimeters long. The maximum carton height is now 100 millimeters. This means that the BEC 300 can, for instance, package a 10-blister stack of capsules size 00 and add a booklet. "On the basis of our many years of experience in the packaging of solid dose products, the BEC 300 was a robust, well-engineered line from the outset. To make a good thing even better was the challenge we set ourselves. We have optimized various attributes so that the new Blister line BEC 300 offers added performance, enhanced user-friendliness, and can be used for an even wider variety of products", explains Dirk Bauernfeind, head of Global Product Management at Uhlmann.

Track & Trace by Uhlmann
The new Blister line BEC 300 will be presented at the ACHEMA in combination with the Case packer E 4004 as well as a flexible Track & Trace solution. As an application example, the Uhlmann Serialization Platform 2 in operation at the exhibition stand will print 2D codes onto the filled cartons and subsequently apply a tamper-evident label. As the modules of the USP series are standalone units, it is possible to integrate them quickly into existing packaging lines, thus avoiding longer downtimes. The modular design of the USP solutions permits adjustment to changing serialization regulations at all times.

Firsthand, individual information
Beyond packaging lines themselves, Uhlmann invites visitors to come and exchange views on current topics such as implementation of the Falsified Medicines Directive 2011/62/EU, which relates to all countries of the European Union. The packaging specialist also offers advice on protection against counterfeiting in general, and on the upgrading of technical or mechanical carton closure technology in particular. The company offers a wide range of options for such tamper-evident measures, i.e. hot-melt closure or mechanical carton closure solutions. Experts will also be available to discuss the increasingly important aspects of service: issues such as ToolManagement by Uhlmann for management of all format parts and parameters at a production site. By means of the Excellence United Service Portal, jointly developed by Uhlmann and four partner companies, service specialists are able to detect and diagnose the cause of malfunctions worldwide with the aid of remote access and multimedia support. On the basis of ServicePlus by Uhlmann, the market leader offers a concept for individual support over the entire life of a machine. Customers can select one of the three service packages - Basic, Comfort or Premium - and combine this, as required, with support and hotline services.
