Right at home with Uhlmann: Why the Kujrakovic brothers are planning their future with us

From Bosnia to Laupheim in Upper Swabia: Nasir, Ensar and Ibrahim Kujrakovic have not only found exciting projects in Uhlmann’s IT department – they have also found a piece of home and long-term career prospects.
Recommended, convinced, arrived
For Nasir, the journey began in 2016 – with a call from a former fellow student who inspired him to take a job in Germany. Two years later, he received the crucial information about Uhlmann: A childhood friend who already worked at the company told him about a job vacancy. “My friend thought it might be just the thing for me – and he was right,” recalls Nasir. A little later, he brought his brother Ensar over: “I had just finished my studies and Nasir said that I would fit in perfectly here – and that convinced me.” In 2021, Ibrahim finally followed suit, motivated by the reports of his brothers and a close friend. “I saw how happy they are – I didn’t have to think twice,” he explains.
What the three of them experience here every day is more than they had expected: A culture where trust matters, team spirit can be seen in action and each and every individual is seen. “I didn’t think people would be so open and friendly,” explains Nasir. Ensar emphasizes: “From day one, you are allowed to take on responsibility – regardless of whether you are just starting out in your career or already have experience.”

«I thought Germany would be rather distant and strict, but here at Uhlmann, everyone is incredibly warm, open and friendly.»

Three roles, one shared code
Today, the brothers work in different but closely interlinked areas of the Pexcite platform. Nasir is part of the Platform Engineering team and takes care of the foundation on which all applications run. In the Core Products team, Ensaw develops key modules such as Alarm Manager and Audit Trail, which are indispensable in many projects. Ibrahim works in the Productivity team and ensures that all systems used for planning, control, management and monitoring in the packaging of pharmaceuticals run smoothly.
“Each of us has our own focus, but we know exactly how our work fits together”, says Ensar. Nasir adds: “When one of us has a tricky question, the others are often the first people we turn to.” And sometimes their roles overlap so closely that they work together on the same challenge – as was the case during a special weekend that has remained in their memories.
The debugging weekend
Some time ago, there was a persistent performance problem in an application. “No one had been able to solve it yet—or found the time to work on it intensively,” explains Nasir. As the release date for a new version approached, the brothers met on a Friday afternoon to search for the cause together. “At the end of the day, we knew what the problem was,” says Ensar.
The first fix was created on the Saturday – “but it wasn’t ideal and was not officially accepted as a permanent solution,” according to Ibrahim. So they sat down together again on the Sunday and developed a clean, robust solution that is still in production today. This action even turned into an internal knowledge-sharing session, where they shared their debugging techniques with others. “It was pure teamwork – and a personal highlight because we were able to create something lasting as brothers,” says Nasir.

«Flexibility is worth its weight in gold here – especially when you have family in two countries.»

Balancing work, life and development
Whether it’s new team structures, family matters or learning a foreign language, the brothers are mastering professional and personal changes with the support of their employer. For Nasir, the current team development is an exciting phase with plenty of scope for creativity. Ensar regularly takes advantage of the opportunity to work from Bosnia for several weeks at a time: “For me, it is precisely these freedoms that are a clear advantage of a family business over large, fast-moving tech corporations.” And Ibrahim organizes his working day so that he has time to learn German: “My goal is to eventually be able to participate in all meetings in German.”
Everyone continues to develop professionally – whether through clean code initiatives, the use of AI tools or training courses that they attend together with colleagues. They are supported in this by a culture that not only allows change, but actively accompanies it – with openness, trust and the necessary flexibility.

Hands-on culture – Family Day
Ibrahim experienced just how much Uhlmann values closeness and community during Family Day. Together with his wife and two daughters – aged nine and seven – he explored the factory premises, marveled at the production lines and tried out interactive stations in the training area. “They finally saw what I do – and that it’s more than just sitting at a computer,” he explains.
His brothers were unable to attend this time, but are already looking forward to the next opportunity when Uhlmann will be showcasing its values in such a visible way. Between machines, bouncy castles and ice cream sundaes, Ibrahim’s family got to experience what he loves about his work – and the three brothers are left with the certainty that they are part of a company where community is more than just a buzzword.
