Many pharmaceutical companies have set themselves ambitious sustainability targets and are assuming environmental and social responsibility. How is Uhlmann contributing to this? With current solutions that will have a direct impact on its sustainability goals!

This was also the case in May at Dr. Pfleger Arzneimittel GmbH: Uhlmann configured a blister line for this pharmaceutical company which, in addition to the standard types of film, can also process PP forming and cover films.

The main focus was on the BEC 400 blister line – a smart combination of blister machine and cartoner module. Over a distance of less than nine meters, the line packs tablets or capsules in blisters and folding cartons. The highlight is that the line produces blisters from PP forming and cover films, which can be more easily recycled.

With the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), the Uhlmann team completed installation of the blister line, which comprises a total of two feed systems and seven sets of format parts. In addition to the FAT, employees at Dr. Pfleger completed a five-day TopMan Training course on-site in Laupheim (Germany). They used their time at the Uhlmann head office to ask questions and optimally prepare themselves for working with the blister line in the future.

"The fact that we now know everything about the operation, cleaning, changing the format and troubleshooting of the new line is a massive advantage. Admittedly, a great deal can be set up intuitively via the control system. However, in-depth training ensures that we are one step ahead during the ramp-up phase," according to Tobias Spörlein, project manager at Dr. Pfleger.
