Avoid glass breakages with gentle product feeding
The secondary packaging of parenteral products in glass containers poses major challenges for you as a pharmaceutical company, CMO/CDMO or packaging service provider:
- Liquid pharmaceutical products such as biopharmaceuticals are usually high-priced – the loss of individual doses due to glass breakage needs to be avoided
- Glass breakages significantly affect productivity because the packaging line has to be shut down and cleaned
- Glass breakages are often the result of glass-to-glass contact, rapid transport movements and drop heights
- Weaknesses in the primary packaging such as microcracks can also trigger glass breakages
This means that the LiPro feeder is designed for the particularly gentle handling of parenteral products.
This is how the LiPro feeder works
LiPro stands for "Liquid Product", i.e. for parenteral products such as ampoules, vials, cartridges and vials. The servo-controlled system gently feeds ampoules, vials, cartridges and bottles at an output of max. 1,050 pieces per minute depending on the product and blister design.
First, the standing products are transported to the pickup position via a vibratory plate. A rake directs the products into a lane. From there, they enter the grooves of the separating roller. The servo-controlled roller rotates 90 degrees and brings the containers into a horizontal pick-up position. They are picked up by the robot system with vacuum grippers and placed in a blister or a cardboard tray. In the case of clamp packs, the press-in station gently fixes the products in the pack.
Advantages of the LiPro feeder
Transportation in micro-steps via the vibratory plate, the use of vacuum suction cups for placement in blisters and cardboard trays, and offset pressing into clamp blisters in two work steps ensure the particularly gentle handling of parenteral products.
For optimum product protection, the LiPro feeder can place products not only in sealed blisters or clamp blisters made of PET, PET/PE, PET-G or PVC, but also in cardboard trays.
The few format parts in the LiPro feeder are easy to change and increase flexibility in pharmaceutical packaging.
The ergonomic filling height of the LiPro feeder and automatic emptying of the system provide operators with an efficiently designed working environment.
With "Direct in Carton" and the LiPro feeder, packaging of ampoules and vials directly into cardboard trays is possible. For more sustainability, efficiency and user-friendliness all along the line.
LiPro feeder in detail
Which products is the LiPro feeder suited to?
The LiPro feeder places upright cartridges, vials, ampoules and vials in all DIN sizes in blisters and cardboard trays. For the feeding of syringe systems, we recommend our SyPro feeder, which is specialized for this purpose.
How is the LiPro feed controlled?
All Uhlmann feeders are fully integrated into the line's operating system and controlled via the user-friendly SmartControl HMI.
Is the LiPro feeder easy to clean and convert?
The GMP-compliant design with smooth surfaces and the few format parts ensure uncomplicated cleaning and time-saving format changes.
How does the gentle pressing into the clamping blisters work?
If all products are pressed into the blister at the same time, the blister may become deformed and excessive pressure may result. Sensitive products can therefore be pressed in in a staggered manner: in the first work step only every second product in the blister, then in the next work step the remaining ampoules, vials, cartridges or vials.
How gently does the LiPro handle labels?
Due to the gentle movements and targeted feeding via the vacuum grippers of the robotic system, the LiPro feeder handles labels very gently.
Can different parenteral products also be fed into a blister with the LiPro?
The targeted insertion of the products makes it possible to place two different products in one work step and with one LiPro feeder.
Can the LiPro feeder be directly interlinked with a production line? What performance is achieved thereby?
The LiPro feeder can be connected directly to your pharmaceutical production, for example by linking it directly to an ampoule filling line. Depending on the product and other parameters, the linked line can then achieve an output of up to 450 products/minute.
